Luonto ei katso köyhyyttä. Mun kotikylä on pieni ja luonto on aina ollut lähellä, sieltä se varmaan juontaa juurensa. Täällä tätä metsää ja kukkuloita on paljon, koska kaupunki ei ole niin suuri. Nyahururussa asuu keskimäärin 40 000 ihmistä.
Despite the poorness of Kenya, we have found pretty amazing nature in Nyahururu. My home is small village and nature have always been part of my life. In Nyahururu is lot of forest and hills. Population of this town is around 40 000 ppl.

Pieni klippi asunnosta. Niinkuin näkyy, ei eletä viiden tähden hotellissa. Mutta kotoisalta tuntuu! / Small clip of our house. Not five star hotel but it feels home!
Arvelisin, että suurin luonnonnähtävyys Nyahururussa on vesiputoukset. Matka ei ole pitkä, matatu-ajomatkan päässä meidän talosta. Ensimmäinen asunto vuokrattiin virolaiselta maraton-juoksijalta, joka käy täällä treenaamassa.
I'd guess that biggest seeing of the nature here is waterfalls. They are quite near, small matatu drive. We rented our first house here from estonian marathon runner, who uses to train in Kenya.

| Thomson Falls |
Virallinen nimi on Thomson falls. Uskomattoman korkea vesiputous, ja auringon paistaessa siihen voi nähdä pieniä sateenkaaria ympäri putousta. Niinkuin kuvista näkyy, maisemat ovat upeat.
Official name of the place is Thomson Falls. Breathtaking high waterfall, while sun hitting on that you can see small rainbows around the fall. As you see from pictures, views are amazing.

Nyahururu on miltei 3500m merenpinnan yläpuolella. Vesiputoukselle mentäessä meidän piti ensin laskeutua kukkulan rinnettä alas aika matka. Päiväsaikaan kiipeäminen takaisin ylös oli hyvä treeni tässä happipitoisuudessa. Oli ihana tuntea edes hitusen kosteaa ilmaa. Helmikuu on vielä kuukausi, kun maa odottaa sadetta. Maa on kuiva ja tomuinen monta viikkoa putkeen.
In Nyahururu we are almost 3500m above sea level, so we’re reaching high. When we wanted to see waterfalls near, we had to first settle down among the hill. Clock was about 13pm that time, so you can imagine how hot it was back then climb again up, in this climate and this thin oxygen. Reaching near, you could feel the wet air touching you. In February Kenya is waiting for the rainy season. It can be very dry weeks row. Feeling little bit water in the air didn’t make bad.

Pitihän sitä käydä katselemassa vähän matkamuistoja jo kotio. Vesiputouksilla voisi myös yöpyä, paikalla on oma hotelli.
Thomson falls have it's own hotel, and also of course place for souvenirs.

| Virtahepojen koti / Hippos home |
Vesiputouksen jälkeen lähdettiin katsomaan toisenlaisia eläimiä. Törmättiin virtahepoihin! Kovin lähelle ei uskallettu mennä, joten kuvia hipoista ei tällä kertaa ole tarjolla. Sielä ne polski vedessä vilvoitellen kuumaa päivää.
After waterfalls we wanted to see little wildlife, so our local friend led us to see hippos to near river. Wild animal is always unexpectable, we didn’t want to go too close, so no photos of those. But we got the view of hippos they enjoyed water during the hot day.
